The
Centaurus Column was designed as a home theatre rear channel speaker. It is a
61" -tall, 9" x 9", black, cloth-covered column.
Speaker wires are attached to the bottom of their base, where there is only one pair binding posts. The wires exit through a slot in the rear of the base.
The "oblique-dipole" configuration of the ribbon in the Columns has both a forward-firing and a side-firing direction. Because the Columns do not vent to the rear, they can be placed up against a wall.
However they work equally well as front speakers, placed either against the wall or positioned out into the room like a traditional Apogee.
The recommended orientation as front speakers is with the side-firing face pointing inwards, toward the other speaker.
