The Signature model was a total redesign of the original Caliper, both the drive unit and the crossover were changed only the outer shell remained the same.
This resulted in a speaker which was an easier load than the original model, along with better controlled bass and better overall balance.
Apparently it was possible to get a Caliper upgraded to the Signature specifications. Although as this required a change of crossover, and both drive units, effectively the whole speaker, I would imagine that the owner would simply buy the Signatures and sell the ordinary pair.
If anyone out there had this done by Apogee I would be interested to know how much they charged, as they seemed to make relatively reasonable charges for these sort of upgrades.
